TO TOWN was "adapted" by Todd Honeycutt, based loosely on the style of the Manhattan Transfer. Todd wrote all the parts and chord structures for this arrangement, which was a good thing, because Doug was going to have a nervous breakdown had he not done so! |
SANTA BABBLE was
written exclusively by Todd Honeycutt for use on this CD. He and
Doug had a blast searching the web for "appropriate" sound effects to
add for the "cartoon-like" feel of the piece. Todd also was the "one finger percussionist" on the note 'A' on the keyboard for the sleigh bells in this piece. (We won't say which finger her used!) |

When I originally approached Todd about this project, I was very hopeful he would say "yes" because he is one of the most brilliant musical minds in my circle of friends. As one can hear from his music, he has been given one of the most versatile and amazing voices. His voice is surpassed only by his amazing ability to, as he puts it- "see the notes that are being sung" in his head and literally write vocal arrangements on the spot. He helped me fix two notes that were out of place in my instrumental solo on this piece. And since we all need someone to "tell us like it is" sometimes- Todd had that opportunity when I first introduced the rough music track for SANTA CLAUS IS..... He kindly looked at me and said that "it's a mess............"! He was right! We fixed the "quantize" on the drums and I nervously worked hard to make the arrangement better. Todd makes you want to do great music when you're in his presence! His ear is incredible, his wit- hilarious, and his heart- unbelievable. This whole project has been lifted up by the inclusion of Todd and his talents. I cannot thank him enough. So, Todd- thank you, thank you, thank you... I'm glad to call you my friend. |
